Package Itinerary

Day 01Arrive at Imphal (Mumbai – Imphal)

Arrive in Imphal and check in at the hotel. Later, visit the Manipur Museum – a heaven for those with a taste for culture and history. Shaheed Minar at Bir Tikendrajit Park. Nupi Lal Memorial, which means ‘Women’s War Memorial’. You can pay homage to the courageous Manipuri women who sacrificed their lives fighting for justice against the British here. You can also visit the Shree Govindajee Temple for their evening aarti/prayer which is only a km ahead. To end your day, explore the numerous restaurants and popular cafes in town. Overnight stay at Imphal hotel.

Remarks: The number of sites one may like to visit will depend on the time of your arrival.  


Day 02Drive to the Border

After B/F, depart early from Imphal on a thrilling journey to the Indo-Myanmar border. Once at Morch – a bustling commercial center where South Asia meets South East Asis, visit the thriving bazaar, meet friendly people, and top it all off with a delicious spread of Burmese cuisine. On the return journey, take a breather near Tengnoupal sunset viewpoint, to soak in the stunning views of the mountain range. Take a detour to Sita Village and between Sinam hill and Nippon Hill, spot trenches dating back to 1944 at the Shenam Saddle, a strategic location where some of the fiercest battles of World War II took place between British and Japanese forces. Approximately 35 km from Tengnoupal lies the Khongjom War Memorial, pay a quick visit if time permits and return to Imphal. Over Night stay at Imphal Hotel.

Remark:

·         Crossing the International Border to visit the Myanmar border town ‘Tamu’ is only permitted for and on offer to Indian Tourist. Foreign nationals can travel up to Moreh only.

·         The border and the markets of both the sides are closed on Full Moon and New Moon days.

Day 03Loktak Lake

After B/F, get started early for the drive from Imphal to Moirang and visit the INA Memorial (where the Indian Tricolor Flag was first hoisted by the Indian National army before independence). Later, explore Loktak Lake. Try paddle over to the famous floating islands called phumids. You can also visit the Imphal Peace Museum and the japs and the Japanese War Memorial at Nambol. It is the location of a fierce battle between British and Japanese forces in WW-II. On the return journey to Imphal, snack on the famous Nambol boras (fritters) with cha-ngang (red tea) at Nambol market. Over Night stay at Imphal Hotel.                                                                                                                              

Remark: The Imphal Peace Museum and the Ina Museum are closed on Mondays.

Day 04A Day out in the City

After B/F, way to Kanglafort, indulge in a hearty typical breakfast of Puri with “ooti’, a simple vegetarian peas curry cooked in an authentic Meitei style, at any of the local Tea stalls. Get a guided tour of the vast grounds of Kangla Fort on an e-cart or a rental bicycle. The Imphal War Cemetery, a memorial to the fallen soldiers of WW-II. Then brace yourself for a hearty Naga Meal at any Naga Restaurant nearby. Later, art aficionados can drop in at the RKCS Art Gallery in Keishamthong, a vast collection of historical paintings and vintage posters. Visit the buzzing IMA Keithel or Mother’s Market, the largest market run exclusively by Mother’s in all of Asia. Savor some of the local snacks like ‘shingju’, a salad of seasonal vegetables and herbs seasoned with indigenous seasoning and ‘bora’, Manipuri – style veg fritters, as you navigate the thousands of vendors displaying their exotic wares here and there. Enjoy the sunset on the banks of the Imphal River at the Kangla Nongpok Torban. (During The Manipur Sangai Festival, please make sure to check out the cultural events at the Hapta Kanjeibung and the Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre.) Over Night stay at Imphal Hotel.

Day 05Imphal - Air - Onward Destination Journey

After B/F, check out from hotel and early birds can head up to the Cheirao Ching, to have a glimpse of a bird’s eye view of the city skyline or opt for a nice relaxing morning off to soak in all your experiences. You can do last-minute shopping in order to fondly recall your memorable adventures as you depart from the ‘Land of Jewels’. Later depart to Manipur Airport to board flight departing for onward destination journey.
