Day 01Arrive Luang Prabang – City Tour
On arrival at the Luang Prabang Airport,
transfer to your hotel. Later, visit Stupa of Wat Visoun, Shrine of Wat Aham,
Wat Mai. Then climb up to the top of Mount Phousi for an enjoyable exploration
of the sacred, gilded stupa as well as a beautiful sunset view of the city and
the Mekong River. From there, explore the Night Market, where you can find a
lovely selection of handmade textiles made by the hill-tribe and local people
surrounding Luang Prabang. Over Night stay in Luang Prabang.
Day 02Luang Prabang – City Tour – Pak Ou Caves
After B/F, visit The National Museum at the former Royal Palace, Wat Sene, Wat Xiengthong. Afternoon we then embark on a cruise upstream on the Mekong River, which also gives us a breathtaking view of the tranquil countryside as well as explore the mysterious Pak Ou Caves, two linked caves crammed with thousands of gold lacquered Buddha statues of various shapes and sizes left by pilgrims. Along the way, stop at the village of Ban Xanghai, where they make the local rice wine. On return, take a short drive to Ban Xangkhong, a village well known for its silk weavings and for its Saa (jute) Papermaking and Ban Phanom, a small village known for its hand weaving. Day 03Luang Prabang – Kuang Si Water Fall
An optional early start gives you the fantastic
opportunity to participate in the daily morning rituals of saffron-clad monks
collecting offerings of Alms (ubiquitous sticky rice) from the faithful
residents. This tradition is very unique in Laos, being the only Buddhist
nation still preserving the procession. After B/F, visit Phosi Market. Later,
visit local villages of Lao Ethnic minority groups at Ban Ouay, Hmong Village,
Ban Ou, Laoloum Village and Ban Thapene, Khmu Village, Khouangsi Waterfall. We
return to the city by late afternoon to observe the sunset at Wat Phabath. Over
Night stay at Luang Prabang.
Day 04Luang Prabang – Vientiane – City Tour
After B/F, transfer to airport to board a flight
departing for Vientiane. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and then visit
the oldest Wat Sisaket, a temple of thousands of miniature Buddha statues, and
the former royal Temple of Wat Prakeo, which previously housed the famous
Emerald Buddha Image. Also, visit Lao national icon, That Luang Stupa, and stop
to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument, which is Vientiane’s
own Arc de Triumph. Over Night stay at Vientiane.
Day 05Vientiane – Half Day City Tour – Buddha Park
After B/F, continue visiting the rest of Vientiane by foot, including Wat Ong Tue, Wat Inpeng and Wat Haisok. We pass by the major shopping area continuing to the Vientiane Central Market of Talad Sao and Talad Kouadin where various goods are displayed for sale; including fresh food, household goods, souvenirs, textiles, gold, silver and antiques. In the afternoon, visit the impressive Lao-Thai Friendship Bridge and the Buddha Park, a display of Buddhist and Hindu sculptures created by mystical monk on parkland located by the Mekong River. A view of the Atacular sunset over the Mekong River is perfect way to finish the day. Over Night stay at Vientiane.
Day 06Vientiane – Pakse – Wat Phou – 4000 Island
After B/F, check out from Vientiane and transfer
to the airport to board a flight departing to Pakse. On your arrival in Pakse,
transfer to Champasak District, visit the ruins of Wat Phou Temple Complex, one
of Southeast Asia's most dramatically situated temples. Time to explore these
intriguing Khmer ruins, which are perched at the base of Mount Phu Kao. Wat Phu
is one of the Lao World Heritage sites recognized by UNESCO in 2001, this
wonderful archeological site of Khmer civilization dates back to the 9th
century, predating the famous Angkor Wat in Cambodia. A festival of this
site is held yearly during the full moon in February and attracts numerous
pilgrims from all over southern Laos. Then continue your way to 4000 Islands
Region and Khong Island. Rest of the day is at leisure. Over Night stay at
Khong Island.
Day 07Si Phan Don (4000 Islands) Surrounding
After B/F, visit to the surrounding countryside,
and embark on a long tail boat tour to Don Khone, where you can disembark and
have the option of exploring the island by bicycle, which takes you to visit
the remains of the French period and Liphi Waterfall or "the Corridor of
the Devil". Return to the mainland at the fishing village of Ban Nakasang
and drive further south to visit Khone Phapheng - is considered the largest
waterfall by volume in South East Asia; this is a really impressive site near
the Lao-Cambodian border, set within an area which is teeming with
wildlife. Then we drive back to Khong Island. Over Night stay at Khong Island.
Day 08Si Phan Don – Pakse – Onward Destination Journey
After B/F, check-out from Khong Island and transfer
to Pakse Airport to board a flight departing for onward destination.
